This p5.js experiment uses the edges of an SVG to gather the starting points for a field of lines. The points are then released and allowed to drift, appearing to deform the SVG edge. The movement is driven by Perlin noise1, to help give a natural flow rather than pure randomness.

  1. Perlin noise was developed by computer graphics researcher Ken Perlin in the early 1980s to create more natural forms of digital variation. Originally used for procedural textures and effects, it has since become a familiar part of generative art and creative coding, particularly where movement needs to feel organic without becoming completely unpredictable. ↩︎
